Year 5 Curriculum
At Parkside Primary School, our children in Year 5 are encouraged to take an active role in their own learning and to be ‘lifelong learners’, taking their learning beyond the school environment and be inspired about a brighter future. We encourage our children to become independent learners and be able to take active ownership of their next steps in learning, therefore, enabling them to be articulate about their own learning experiences and journey.
In Year 5, there is a strong emphasis on embedding the skills and knowledge learnt in lower Key Stage 2. We support the children to apply their knowledge in creative and increasingly complex ways in all areas of the curriculum. In all subject areas, we ensure the children are exposed to a wide range of genres that reflect the diversity of our school, in order for them to be immersed in a rich diet of vocabulary and grammar for them to use in all of their work.
