Bikeability for Nursery and Reception
On Thursday, we had the sports lead from Queens School, Catherine Owusu, visit to deliver bikeability sessions to our Nursery and Reception children.
All children develop differently and so the sessions will cater for complete beginners through to the more confident young riders. The sessions will follow the Bikeability Balance framework which complies with the Physical Activity Early Years – Creative Play programme.
What are the benefits of balance bikes?
- Develops balance and control of movements
- Develops motor skills, confidence & co-ordination
- Promotes physical activity & a healthy lifestyle
- Builds muscle & body strength
- Develops awareness of the body and surroundings
- Encourages bike control
This will also assist children in meeting the Early Years Foundation Stages (EYFS):
- Physical Development
- Communication & Language
- Mathematics
- Social Development
- Understanding the World
At Parkside Community Primary School, we continue to look for ways to nurture and inspire our children, even away from classroom, not only by competing in a variety of sports but by also providing opportunities which are meaningful and purposeful for our amazing children all the way through their Parkside journey from Nursery to Year 6.
