EFL Utilita U11s Kids Cup

January 30, 2024/in General News/by parkside2024

Myself (Mr Wanless) and Mr Honour were so proud of the U11 boys football team who represented Parkside in today’s regional tournament at Watford FC’s training ground – The Dome.

The attitude and commitment of everyone was outstanding, they battled so hard and never gave up in any of the games they played throughout the morning.

Overall, the boys finished 3rd in their group, having won 3, lost 2 and drawn 2 but they must remember that those two games they lost the scores were only 2-1 and 1-0, so keep your heads up boys we still have lots more fixtures to take part in!

Captain’s thoughts by Barney McKoy – On Tuesday, we travelled to Watford’s training ground with confidence of winning. We played 7 games overall, winning 3, drawing 2 and losing 2. At times, it was tough but we kept going into every game with passion and confidence. I thought all of us played well and gave everything as a team, who are new to playing with each other. We eventually finished 3rd in our group which I think was really unlucky but on the whole I am so proud of my team and it means a lot to be captain of this team in my final year at Parkside.

D&T: Year 5

January 29, 2024/in General News/by Mark Pedrasa

D&T: Year 5 had another very exciting Design & Technology lesson this week. We looked at sweet English national dishes, in particular Eton mess.

We whipped the cream, broke up the meringues and added a variety of fruit. We then got to the best bit – we tasted it and it was delicious!

Mental Health Week 2024

January 29, 2024/in General News/by parkside2024

Children’s Mental Health Week 2024 will take place from 5–11 February 2024. This year’s theme is ‘My Voice Matters’

My Voice Matters is about empowering children and young people by providing them with the tools they need to express themselves. During Children’s Mental Health Week we want all children and young people, whoever they are, and wherever they are in the world, to be able to say – and believe – “My Voice Matters”.

Social Media

January 26, 2024/in General News/by parkside2024

A reminder to all parents about children using social apps without social maturity.

Again, the school is having to respond to unkind online behaviour whilst your child is at home requiring staff to address this behaviour and impact to another.  Many reported incidents are of children using WhatApp with a recommended age rating of 16+.  We ask for your support in taking an active interest in your child’s online behaviour, monitor them and encourage behaviour that influences kindness and stronger friendships.

School Uniform Reminder

January 12, 2024/in General News/by parkside2024

At the beginning of every term, it is useful to remind families of their responsibility of sending children to school in the correct uniform.

This includes PE kit. Please remember that all children should wear the correct school jumper with the school logo on it, a white polo shirt, grey or charcoal trousers for boys / girls and or a pinafore, warm socks and most importantly black school shoes. They should also wear non-branded PE kit. I cannot stress highly enough the importance of wearing the correct school uniform, it instils pride and gives a sense of belonging.
