Year 6 22.5.20

Happy Friday everyone!

Maths: Coordinates and shapes: To solve practical problems involving circles. https://www.thenational.academy/year-6/maths/coordinates-and-shapes-to-solve-practical-problems-involving-circles-year-6-wk5-5

In today’s final lesson, you will identify relationships between circle parts and then solve problems involving circles.

Literacy: Diary Entry lesson 5: Writing a diary entry. https://www.thenational.academy/year-6/english/diary-entry-lesson-5-writing-a-diary-entry-year-6-wk5-5

In this lesson, you will be taking everything you have learned this week to write a diary entry.

Experiment time: Take a look at the website http://www.sciencefun.org/kidszone/experiments/

See if you can conduct one of the experiments shown. I really like the look of the dry erase one, might try that one over the weekend myself. Remember to take photos/videos for me to share with the school community.

Mental Health Awareness Week: For today, I would like you to focus on the idea of ‘taking notice’ The definition of this is: Reminding yourself to ‘take notice’ can strengthen and broaden awareness. Being aware of what is taking place in the present directly enhances your wellbeing and savouring ‘the moment’ can help to reaffirm your life priorities.

Below are some ideas for you:

  1. Can you draw a picture of something in your house, garden or something out of your window?
  2. Can you write down 3 things you are grateful for and why?
  3. Can you take/find a photo of  someone who is important in your life and why?

Fun Friday Challenge: Below is today’s challenge from Mrs Weinstein, remember there is also Cosmic Kids on youtube for some added Yoga fun!

Creative Art: Something I have been fascinated of late with has been optical illusions especially within Art, I know we did a task earlier on in the week but take a look at these three short clips, so clever but not that difficult.

Have fun and have a great weekend, and as I’m feeling generous this morning, how about I give you next week off. 🙂

Take care everyone,

Mr Wanless and Miss Wood
