Happy Monday Year 5!

We hope you all had a restful weekend and it’s time to start a new week of learning so here are your activities for today!

 

Spellings:

Spellings for this week: (they are same as last week, practise makes perfect!)

aggressive, exaggerate, sufficient, marvellous, attached, immediate, occupy, according, opportunity

Can you create an anagram for each word? For example; p c o y u c = occupy

 

Maths:

Task 1:  Take 1 number. Think of a 2-digit number, and complete the instructions in each box using that number. Take One Number…

Task 2: Watch this video about multiplying numbers by 10, 100 and 1000.

Reading:

Using this template and create a flower with you in the centre. My Book Garden

Use the petals to list your favourite stories that you have read.

Make sure you are completing your reading record everyday – we will check this when we’re back in school!

 

English:

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

Your creature has escaped from being captured. Fellow Monsterologists followed your instructions and caught your creatures. However, they managed to escape and have been running wild in London.

Have a go at writing a newspaper report to describe this piece of breaking news.

Aim to include:

  • A short, snappy headline
  • Explain what has happened
  • Explain when this happened
  • Explain how it happened
  • A quote from someone who has seen the creature
  • A range of conjunctions (and, but, so, if, because, when)

 

Science:

Can you make up your own rhyme for helping you remember the order of the planets? Use this example to help you:
