Year 5 Online Learning 09.02.21

Happy Tuesday Year 5!

All of your work for today has been set for you on Google Classroom. You have been working incredibly hard to complete and submit your work  – we are really proud of you!

If you are still not sure about how to log in, find the work set or how to hand in your work on Google Classroom, watch this video to help you:

You have a task to complete for Spellings, Reading, Maths, English and History today. There is also a link to a website we would like you to use this week to complete some reading each day, rather than listening to an extract of a book.

If you are having any difficulties accessing Google Classroom, please do email us and let us know as we will stop posting the daily schedule on the school website at the end of this week as all of our work is now being set on Google Classroom.

Stay safe.

Mrs Samways and Miss Castell

Morning Challenge:

Here’s a little something to get your brain warmed up this morning! How many of these challenges can you complete today?

All of your spellings this week are called statutory spellings. They are spellings that you find tricky to remember and you just have to learn them as whole words!

Competition, determined, interrupt, persuade, restaurant, soldier, vegetable, dictionary, equipment, muscle

Task 1: Complete the spelling task by writing an anagram of each spelling word.

Today we are going to continue on the topic of fractions this week– we are looking at what improper fractions are today and converting them into mixed numbers.

Task 1: Hit the button (Times Tables) :

You know which times table you need to practise – here’s your chance!

Task 2: Watch this video:

Task 3: Complete the questions about improper fractions. Maths Tuesday

We are going to read Chapter 5 of ‘Silver Secrets of the Golden Hind’ and complete the online multiple choice quiz afterwards on Purple Mash.

We are going start a unit for this week based on a haunting poem called ‘The Listeners’ . We are continuing to use the Oak Academy to help us teach you this unit.

Task 1: Watch this video first to help you create some strategies for understanding the vocabulary in the poem.

Task 2: complete the task, based on your ideas from the video.

Task 3: listen to the poem being read aloud. It definitely is a bit eerie and spooky!
