Year 5 Home Learning – 3.4.2020

Good morning Year 5!

Another busy week and you can all finally have a well deserved rest over the Easter break. We hope you will spend this time to play, rest and relax with your family and we will be ready to send you more work to complete at home on the 20th April. Remember to keep an eye on our Twitter page (@headparkside)and the school website for fun activities that you can do at home during the Easter break.

Here are some activities for you to complete at home today.

Try Multiplication Challenge.

We have set you a mental calculation challenge as a 2Do on Purple Mash. Remember to use a piece of paper to use the grid method or long multiplication to help you to solve these calculations.

Group 1:

rain, pain, paint, wait, again, explain, afraid, chain, nail, sail, pail

Group 2 and 3:

politician, position, imitation, accommodation, suggestion, discussion, confession, profession, musician, electrician, optician

Visit Purple Mash to find your spelling test for the words you have been set this week. Good luck!

Read the story called ‘A Boy called Mouse’. Then has a go at answering the questions we have set for you about the story. All the answers can be found in the text!

Look at this email in the document below.

Email Argument – 3.4.2020

Think about these questions.

  • What difference do you think one side of the foil being shiny makes?
  • Where might you find evidence to answer the question?
  • What does Joe think? And Jay?
  • Who do you agree with?

You can go online to find some answers, write a reply to Jay and Joe.

You will explain who is right or wrong, and give the scientific explanation for the shininess of aluminium foil.

Keeping Active:
