Hello Year 5, it’s the middle of the week already!

We have receiving some brilliant learning this week so far, keep up the great work!

Here are some activities for you to complete at home today:

Morning Challenge:

Spellings:

Group1:

You are focusing on the prefixes in-, im-, ir- and il- this week.

inactive, inaccurate, incapable, immature, impolite, impatient, irregular, irresponsible, illegal , illegible

Group 2 and 3:

This week you are focusing on words that have silent letters in them.

island, knight, solemn, sword, wrestle, knock, answer, honest, knowledge, rhythm, knew

Maths:

Task 1: Can you solve the problem and put the numbers in the right place in the puzzle? Weds Starter

Task 2: We are using some of the lessons produced by BBC Bitesize this week as a revision of some of the learning we have covered so far in Year 5. Reading:

Continue to read ‘Ted and the Flying Fruits’. We would like you to read Chapter 5 and complete the multiple choice quiz afterwards. This has been set as a 2Do on Purple Mash.

Then, answer the questions on this  word document too. Ted and the Flying Fruits questions Chpt 5

English:

Task 1: How many words can you find from these letters? Can you find the 9 lettered word? Weds Anagrams

Task 2: Have a look at the image on the word document called ‘The Visitor’. Eng Wednesday

Read the start of the story and finish it off using you own ideas. Include the skills we have been focusing on over the past few weeks:

  • Correct tense
  • Fronted adverbials
  • Direct speech

Art

We are going to continue learning about African inspired art. Read through the powerpoint and have a go at completing the activity. Lesson 4

Keeping Active:

Make sure you take regular work breaks and join in with the body Coach – P.E. with Joe at 9 a.m.

Something Fun:

Can you fill in answer for each letter of the alphabet? If you don’t know, look it up!
