Happy Monday Year 5! We hope you all had a restful weekend and enjoyed some of the beautiful weather outside.

It’s time to start a new week of learning so here are your activities for today!

 

Morning Challenge:

Spellings:

Group 1:

You are focusing on the prefixes in-, im-, ir- and il- this week. How do the prefixes change the meaning of the root word?

inactive, inaccurate, incapable, immature, impolite, impatient, irregular, irresponsible, illegal , illegible

Group 2 and 3:

This week you are focusing on words that have silent letters in them.

island, knight, solemn, sword, wrestle, knock, answer, honest, knowledge, rhythm, knew

Maths:

Task 2: We are using some of the lessons produced by BBC Bitesize this week as a revision of some of the learning we have covered so far in Year 5.

Reading:

You are going to continue reading ‘Ted and the Flying Fruits’ and today, we would like you to read Chapter 4 and complete the multiple choice quiz afterwards.

Remember to look at the underlined words as you read the text. These are words you may be unfamiliar with and if you hover over the word, it will tell you its meaning.

English:

Task 1: Can you find and correct all of the mistakes in the postcard? Mon Spot the Mistakes

Task 2: Ted is faced with a big decision. Will he choose to follow Tilly, or will he choose to stay close to Max? Use the template on Purple Mash to think about the pros and cons of each option for Max. This has been set as a 2Do for you today.

PSHE:

The food you eat each day to fuel you, can have a huge impact on your general wellbeing. Eating too many moody (bad) foods can affect how you feel too! Can you compete both parts of the table, thinking about moody foods and good foods? PSHE

French:

Match up the days of the week in English and French, then complete the table with activities that you would do on each of the days. French days of the week

Keeping Active:  

Make sure you take regular work breaks and join in with the body Coach – P.E. with Joe at 9 a.m.
