Hello Year 5, it’s the middle of the week already! Here are some activities for you to complete at home today.
Morning Challenge:

Spellings:
Group1:

Group 2 and 3:

Practise your spelling using the pyramid strategy today.
Maths:
Task 1: Can you identify and measure the different types of angles? This is a 2Do on Purple Mash.
Task 2: You are going to continue to learn about fractions this week. Today you are going to focus on finding fractions of an amount.

Reading:
Continue to read our book this week is called ‘The Great Marvello’ and today, we would like you to read Chapter 4 and complete the multiple choice quiz afterwards. This has been set as a 2Do on Purple Mash.
English:
Task 1: Research and write an accurate definition for each of the verbs.
Task 2: Look at the image of ‘The Magic Library’ and read the story starter. How does the story continue? Write the ending.
Keeping Active:
Make sure you take regular work breaks and join in with the body Coach – P.E. with Joe at 9 a.m.
Something fun!
We would like you to continue working on the project for the week, focused around the theme of ‘jungle’.
- Choose an animal a day, do some research about it and choose a way to present it (a fact file, poster, information text, leaflet etc)
- Aim to include an image of your animal, and include a caption in each piece of work.
- Animals to research:
- Macaw
- Anaconda
- Spider Monkey
- Jaguar
- Leaf cutter Ant
- Capybara
- Tarantula
Research questions:
- What kind of animal is it?
- Describe its appearance
- Where does it live?
- What does it eat? How does it catch/get its food?
- Include an interesting fact or 2!
