Happy Monday Year 5! We hope you all had a restful weekend!

It’s time to start a new week of learning so here are your activities for today!

Morning Challenge:

Spellings:

Group 1:

This week your spellings are using the prefix mis- and dis-.   (misjudge, misbehave, mislead, misspell, mishap, disappoint, disagree, disobey, disappear, disloyal )

Group 2 and 3:

This week your spelling all use the –ough spelling.  (bought, thought, brought, fought, rough, enough, tough, cough, although, dough)

Use this sheet to write the word in a sentence, to show its meaning. Spellings – write in a sentence

 

Maths:

Task 1: Can you compare numbers up to 10,000? Have a go at the 2Do set for you on Purple Mash today.

Task 2: You are going to continue to learn about decimal numbers this week.   White Rose Maths has put together a great home learning pack on this which can be accessed through this link:

We would like you to complete lesson 1 for Summer Term Week 3 –multiply 2 digit numbers (area model). Watch the clip about this learning then answer the questions in the activity section.

The answers are also available so you can check your work once you have completed it – no peeking before you have completed the questions!

 

Reading:

You are going to continue reading Ted and the Flying Fruits. We would like you to read Chapter 2 and complete the multiple choice quiz afterwards. This has been set as a 2Do on Purple Mash.

Remember to look at the underlined words as you read the text. These are words you may be unfamiliar with and if you hover over the word, it will tell you its meaning.

 

English:

Task 1: Can you put the animal names in alphabetical order? Mon alphabetical order

Task 2: Ted and Tilly found themselves pulled into a science lab by a mysterious pair of hand in the online book Ted and the Flying Fruits today. Will this person help them, or harm them? Write the next part of the story. This is a 2Do on Purple Mash.

 

PSHE:

We can show people we care in lots of different ways. Record all the times you show somebody you care over this week by completing the table. You can send us an example each day or the complete table at the end of the week. Caring for Others

 

French:

Can you put the French word for each number in correct place in the crossword? French Numbers 1-to-10-crossword

 

Keeping Active:  

Make sure you take regular work breaks and join in with the body Coach – P.E. with Joe at 9 a.m.
