Year 4 – Home Learning 6/1/21

Good morning everyone,

It was so lovely to see all the fantastic work you have been doing at home! Please continue sending it in as I love to see it.

Please continue to keep in touch with me via my email below. Send through any work that your child has completed as well as any questions or support you may need. I will have access to my emails throughout the typical school day.


Also, remember to keep yourself active throughout the day and take some well-deserved brain breaks!

This will be our second lesson on Journey by Aaron Becker.

Task One – go through the PowerPoint attached below. Read it carefully and discuss with a person at home. There is an example of how to complete the tasks on the PowerPoint.

Task Two – complete the task attached below by organising the events in the story in the correct order. You may want to re-watch the clip a few times to help you.

Task Three – write a sentence for each of the pictures to explain what is happening in each.

Reread Chapter 1 of The Knockers which is set to read on Purple Mash.

Task One – complete the open-ended questions that are attached below. Make sure you try and use full sentences in your answers:

Remember to read your own book everyday (reading helps us develop fantastic language for our own writing!)



Here are the two spelling lists for this week (make sure you continue to learn the spellings of ONE list):

NB: on Friday, test your child on how they have done with learning to spell these words.


Task One – practice spelling your list by doing pyramid words (this could be done on paper at home).

Task Two – can you list more words that have a similar spelling pattern to some of the words on your list?

E.g. Straight – eight

Pull – full, dull



This is the second lesson of our Geography Unit: Rivers.

Any questions that you come across you could write down some answers or discuss them with someone at home. Make sure that you continue to read over the Knowledge Organiser every lesson.

Task One – choose ONE of the rivers (Thames or Danube) and create a fact file about it. Use the research attached below to help you get started but you could also do your own research too. Once you are ready, use ONE of the fact files to fill in with the information you gather.
