Year 4 – Home Learning 5/2/21

Good morning everyone,

It was so lovely to see all the fantastic work you have been doing at home! Please continue sending it in as I love to see it. Remember, many of the tasks have been set as 2 dos on Purple Mash and we are beginning to use Google Classroom.

Please continue to keep in touch with me via my email below. Send through any work that your child has completed as well as any questions or support you may need. I will have access to my emails throughout the typical school day.

Joe Wicks is back this lockdown with his morning workouts!

These will be happening on his YouTube channel on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning at 9am! It is a great way to start your day so have a go and get energised!

Maths:

Yesterday’s lesson was classifying quadrilaterals. If you need a bit of a recap you could go through the information again from yesterday to refresh your memory.

This will be our fifteenth lesson on The Jabberwocky by Lewis Carrol.

For this lesson, you will need to follow the link below to get to the video.

You will need to watch the lesson very carefully. Throughout the lesson, you will be asked to pause the lesson and complete some tasks. These tasks can be completed on Purple Mash. A copy of the tasks has also been attached below (these can be completed in the word document).

Reading:

Reread the chapter that has been set on Purple Mash (The Knockers – Chapter 5 OR Magic in the Moonlight – Chapter 4).

The Knockers – complete task that is set on Purple Mash (create an annotated diagram to describe Drake).

Magic in the Moonlight – complete the two tasks that are set on Purple Mash (Moonlit Walk and Yes or No).

 

Remember to read your own book everyday (reading helps us develop fantastic language for our own writing!)

Art:

This is the third lesson of our Art Unit: Mythological Paintings.

Any questions that you come across you could write down some answers or discuss them with someone at home. Make sure that you continue to read over the Knowledge Organiser every lesson.

Task One: Reread the story of Theseus and the Minotaur that is attached below (this is so that you have the story fresh in your mind).

Theseus and the Minotaur – Full Story

Task Two: You are going to sketch the Minotaur in 2 different ways.

One Minotaur will be fierce and the other one not fierce (confused and unsure).

You are going to use Picasso’s paintings below to help you sketch your TWO Minotaur’s.

Remember, sketching is only with pencil so you should use no colour. Also, send through your amazing sketches to me as I would love to see them!

Think about the following things:

  • Shape and position of the eyes
  • Shape and position of the mouth
  • Shape and position of the body
