Year 4 – Home Learning 3/2/21

Good morning everyone,

It was so lovely to see all the fantastic work you have been doing at home! Please continue sending it in as I love to see it. Remember, many of the tasks have been set as 2 dos on Purple Mash and we are beginning to use Google Classroom.

Also, just a reminder that we have our zoom scheduled for today at 2pm.

Please continue to keep in touch with me via my email below. Send through any work that your child has completed as well as any questions or support you may need. I will have access to my emails throughout the typical school day.


Also, remember to keep yourself active throughout the day and take some well-deserved brain breaks!

Joe Wicks is back this lockdown with his morning workouts!

These will be happening on his YouTube channel on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning at 9am! It is a great way to start your day so have a go and get energised!

You will need to watch the lesson very carefully. Throughout the lesson, you will be asked to pause the lesson and complete some tasks. These tasks can be completed on Purple Mash. A copy of the tasks has also been attached below (these can be completed in the word document and emailed to me). – open in Google Chrome.

Remember to read your own book everyday (reading helps us develop fantastic language for our own writing!)



Here are the two spelling lists for this week (make sure you continue to learn the spellings of ONE list):

NB: on Friday, your child will be tested on their spelling through a test set up on Purple Mash.


Task One – practice spelling your list by doing rainbow words (this could be done on paper at home).

Task Two – write 8 sentences using the words from your chosen list. You can use as many of the words as you like but you must have 8 sentences. This can been set as a 2do on Purple Mash.



For computing, we are going to look at a unit called Making Music.

Task One: Before you begin, I would like you to complete the Musical Elements Quiz that is set as a 2do on Purple Mash. This is a quiz to help assess your prior knowledge of music.

Task Two: Busy Beats has been set as a 2do for you on Purple Mash. Go through and listen to the following pieces of music that have been saved on Busy Beats:

  • Dance Tune
  • Chord Sequence
  • Slow Groove

As you are listening and exploring the music think about the following questions:

  1. Can you clap the pulse of this tune?
  2. What can you say about the tempo of this piece of music?
  3. What can you say about the pitch of the notes?
  4. What sounds / instruments can you hear?
  5. What does this piece of music remind you of?
  6. How does it make you feel?

Task Three: Choose ONE of the pieces of music you have looked at and complete the Music Review 2do that is set on Purple Mash.
