Year 4 Home Learning – 12/1/21

Good morning everyone,

It was so lovely to see all the fantastic work you have been doing at home! Please continue sending it in as I love to see it.

Please continue to keep in touch with me via my email below. Send through any work that your child has completed as well as any questions or support you may need. I will have access to my emails throughout the typical school day.

Also, remember to keep yourself active throughout the day and take some well-deserved brain breaks!

See below for the tasks I would like your child to complete today:

Home Learning for Tuesday 12th January 2021:

Complete LESSON TWO – MULTIPLY 2-DIGIT BY 1-DIGIT on White Rose (Week 2) – Spr4.2.1 – Multiply 2-digits by 1-digit (1) on Vimeo

You will see that there is a short video that you can watch with your child and an activity to download and complete (I will also attach a downloaded version below with answers):

Multiply 2-digits by 1-digit Worksheet

Multiply 2-digits by 1-digit Answers

Extra: practice your times-tables speed with the 2do set on Purple Mash.

This will be our sixth lesson on Journey by Aaron Becker.

Task One – go through the PowerPoint attached below (all instructions are written clearly and there may be a voice recording to explain tasks in further detail). Read all slides carefully and write out answers to questions if they come up on the slides. You could discuss the slides and lesson with an adult at home.

Journey Lesson 6

Task Two – list colours that you know and the emotions that you think are linked to that colour (you could use some research to find out what colours are linked to what emotions). List objects and other things that might be these colours.

Task Three – write a poem using the scaffold provided on the PowerPoint. There is an example on the slides to help you get started.

Reread the chapter that has been set on Purple Mash (The Knockers – Chapter 2 OR Magic in the Moonlight – Chapter 1).

The Knockers – complete the chapter sequencing task attached below.

Chapter Sequencing (The Knockers)

Magic in the Moonlight – complete the joining word task attached below.

Joining Words (MITM)

Remember to read your own book everyday (reading helps us develop fantastic language for our own writing!)

Here are the two spelling lists for this week (make sure you continue to learn the spellings of ONE list):

List One:

List Two:

NB: on Friday, your child will be tested on their spelling through a test set up on Purple Mash.

Task One – practice spelling your list by doing pyramid words (this could be done on paper at home).

Task Two – can you list more words that have a similar spelling pattern to some of the words on your list?

E.g. Straight – eight

Pull – full, dull

This week for PE it is all about balancing!

Open the PDF below and read through the tasks that I would like you to complete today:

PE Balance Time

  1. How many different body parts can you balance on?
  2. Can you balance on your back and tummy? What do you do with your arms and legs?
  3. Can you balance on your hands and feet? Can you lift one hand or leg off the floor?
  4. Choose your favourite three balances.
  5. Can you add them together to make a sequence? Perform your sequence to someone else. What do they think?

This is the fifth lesson of our Geography Unit: Rivers.

Go through the PDF that is attached below (this is the SMART that we would have gone through in class):

Geography Lesson 5

Any questions that you come across you could write down some answers or discuss them with someone at home. Make sure that you continue to read over the Knowledge Organiser every lesson as this will help you when it comes to completing the assessment at the end of the week).

Task One – read through the THREE different rivers in Asia. You may want to do your own research to learn a little bit more. Attached below is some more research that you might like to use as well.

Task Two – complete the venn-diagram (either by doing it through the word document and creating text boxes or by drawing your own venn-diagram) by comparing the three rivers in the PDF. I have completed some of this on the PDF, so you have a few examples to get you started.

I hope you have a wonderful day and are keeping safe.
