Home Learning for Tuesday 12th May 2020:
Maths:
Complete The Perimeter of a Rectangle Lesson on Bitesize by following this link – https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zbcnf4j
You will find that everything you need to complete the lesson is on this webpage. There will be one video to watch and information to read. The tasks are also on this webpage, but they will also be linked and explained below.
Task One – Cut out 12 equal-sized squares of paper or use 12 square sticky-notes. Put them into one long rectangle.
- What is the perimeter of this rectangle?
- Rearrange them to make different rectangles – do they all have the same perimeter?
- How many different perimeters can you make by rearranging these squares?
Task Two – complete the Perimeter Quiz.
Task Three – play the Mines of Measurement level and look out for questions on perimeter – https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zd2f7nb/articles/zn2y7nb

English:
Task One: Watch the learning screen that has been set on Education City (Revenge of the Comma). This learning screen will teach you the dos and don’ts of using commas.
Task Two: complete the Revenge of the Comma Task Sheet that is attached below.
Task Three: use the writing prompt to write a story (there is a checklist to help you attached). Make sure that in your story you include your learning of commas.
Extra: complete the game Revenge of the Comma that has been set on Education City.
Reading:
Reread Chapter 6 of Animal Boy which is available to read on Purple Mash.
Complete the open ending questions about the chapter that is attached below.
Remember to read your own book everyday (reading helps us develop fantastic language for our own writing!)
Spelling:
These are going to be your spelling words to learn this week:
grammar, guide, increase, knowledge, length, library, material, medicine, mention, minute
NB: On Friday, test your child on how they have done with learning to spell these words.
Task One: create a word search using your spelling words for this week. This can just be done on paper at home.
Task Two: challenge yourself to find words that rhyme with each of your spelling words.
Eg. Guide = pride, ride, bride, cried, wide, etc.
Geography:
