Year 4 – Home Learning 10/2/21

Good morning everyone,

It was so lovely to see all the fantastic work you have been doing at home! Please continue sending it in as I love to see it. Remember, all tasks have now been set on Google Classroom in preparation for moving from out school website to Google Classroom.

Also, just a reminder that we have our zoom scheduled for today at 2pm.

Please continue to keep in touch with me via my email below. Send through any work that your child has completed as well as any questions or support you may need. I will have access to my emails throughout the typical school day.


Also, remember to keep yourself active throughout the day and take some well-deserved brain breaks!

Joe Wicks is back this lockdown with his morning workouts!

These will be happening on his YouTube channel on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning at 9am! It is a great way to start your day so have a go and get energised!

Yesterday’s lesson was about the properties of 3D shapes. If you need a bit of a recap you could watch the video again from yesterday to refresh your memory. Our learning objective for today is: Can I describe the properties of 3D shapes? – open in Google Chrome.

Once you feel confident with 3D shapes and the previous learning, complete the white rose activity that is attached (this is also set on Google Classroom):

Extra: practice your times-tables speed with the 2dos set on Purple Mash. You could also explore the many different times-table games on Purple Mash.

You will need to watch the lesson very carefully. Throughout the lesson, you will be asked to pause the lesson and complete some tasks. These tasks can be completed on Google Classroom (they will no longer be available for completion on Purple Mash). A copy of the tasks has also been attached below (these can be completed in the word document and then emailed to me). – open in Google Chrome.

Here are the two spelling lists for this week (make sure you continue to learn the spellings of ONE list):

NB: on Friday, your child will be tested on their spelling through a test set up on Purple Mash.


Task One – practice spelling your list by doing rainbow words (this could be done on paper at home).

Task Two – write 8 sentences using the words from your chosen list. You can use as many of the words as you like but you must have 8 sentences. This is no longer set on Purple Mash but on Google Classroom.



This is our second lesson of our computing unit: Making Music.

Task One – discuss the following question: What is rhythm?

Task Two – listen to the ready-made rhythms on Busy Beats (this has been set as a 2do on Purple Mash) on tabs A-F and ask pupils to tap back the rhythm (this means you will use your hand to tap or clap the rhythms that you listen to).

Task Three – Now I want you to experiment with different rhythms (using the 2do that is in Purple Mash).

  • You are only working on a rhythm, so only using the ‘samples’, not the ‘synths’ (these can be found at the top of the page). Look at the picture attached below to help you:

  • Start by adding one sample and experiment by moving the ripplers and changing the BPM before adding in more samples.
  • If you are happy with a rhythm, you can add a new page by selecting the + button at the bottom. Look at the picture below if you need help:

In this lesson, you will continue to learn about different call and response sections and learn a new song ‘Halima Pakasholo’. You will be using instruments to create Samba breaks and improvised sections and you will finish with a quiz.
