School Closure Update

19th March 2020

CLOSURE OF THE SCHOOL

Dear Parents / Carers,

Yesterday the government issued guidance whereby all schools are to close except for those families whose are considered to have a vulnerable child in their care, are on an Educational Health Care Plan or families whose parents/carers are key workers. We do not know at this time who is considered to be a key worker but as soon as we do, you will be contacted with further information regarding your child’s education.

You will all know that we have had to close to the school because of a confirmed case of COVID-19 and the school has been thoroughly cleaned by a professional cleaning company yesterday. In conjunction with the governing body and on advice from Hertfordshire County Council the school will remain closed until WEDNESDAY 1st APRIL as a precautionary measure. The safety of our children, their families and the staff is a top priority for the school.

Whilst I understand that this is an unprecedented step in the history of this country I want to reassure you all that we are doing everything we can as a school to support you through this very challenging and difficult time. Teachers will continue to upload activities, and links to activities, on their class pages on a daily basis. Children brought work home with them on Tuesday in preparation for the school’s closing and we are encouraging you to help your child with their work everyday. I will send regular updates to you as and when the situation changes so please check your mobile phones and the school website over the days and weeks ahead.

For those families who have access to Free School Meals further information will be issued later today about how and where you can collect your child’s meal.

I want to reiterate that we are doing everything we can to ensure we follow guidance both locally and internationally to prevent the spread of the virus but to keep the education of the children going.

Thank you for your continued support during this very difficult time.

Yours sincerely

Charles Soyka
Headteacher
