Home Learning 1.4.20

Good Morning Year 6, can’t believe we are at Wednesday already!

Remember to keep active so continue to support and join in with Jo Wicks PE sessions from 9am. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8o8wMgAT-Y

You should all be quite good at this by now, so I want you to plan a 15 minute work out for me, the best ones I will perform and upload to the website and twitter on Friday. This is your chance to be the PE teacher now!

Mindfulness: You could try another story from Cosmic Kids or a quick word search to focus your mind.

Maths: Today we are going to try and secure our understanding of being able to add/subtract fractions. Take a look at the link https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-7/ and click on WEEK 1 and find Lesson 4 – Add and subtract fractions with the same denominator.

If you feel extremely confident with this then go back to Week 2 and try the next session in the sequence.

P.S Don’t forget Herts Maths is running an Easter Competition but to win it, you have to be in it and I have had no submissions yet! Be creative with your story.

Literacy: Children to continue with their information booklet about the Suffragettes. Suffragists and the right to vote.

Reminder – Children to write about Suffragettes/Suffragists: The Battle of Equality, giving facts about what they have learnt, people who opposed them and why and opinions of what they have read in class and from their own research.

This task could be presented as a booklet or a PowerPoint, be as creative as possible. Think about writing tools such as a contents page to highlight to the reader which page different facts/information are on and a glossary of key terms and their definitions.

Science: Be a scientist for a day https://www.sublimescience.com/free-science-experiments/

Try one of the experiments on sublime science and let me know what happened and if you can explain why. Photos would be great also.

There are more on Planet-Science too. http://www.planet-science.com/categories/experiments/chemistry-chaos/2012/01/shrink-a-crisp-packet.aspx

Reading: It’s time to move on to Chapter 2 in our online reading of Suffrajitsus. I will give you till Friday to complete all the tasks set plus the documents I have attached below. This will also give you time to make sure you have completed Chapter 1 too.

And… if you get time, put your work down and spend some quality time with your family, maybe a board game or help a younger sibling with their learning or watch a family film together.
