Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 6th May 2022 – Summer 3
To see the children enjoying the field and the meadow once again is a reinder that the summer term is well under way. It is such a pleasure to see them enjoying their play and lunch times together. Next week is SATs week for Year 6. Across the country, children in Year 6 will sit three maths papers, a reading paper and a spelling, punctuation and grammar paper. The Year 6 teaching team have prepared the children thoroughly for the tests and we wish each and everyone of them the best of luck!! They will enjoy an afternoon in the park as a treat next Friday afternoon. Oliver Dowden the MP for Hertsmere will visit school on Friday 6th June in the morning to speak to the school council and to hear about the many projects the school is involved with. We look forward to welcoming him. Have a wonderful weekend.
The word of the week is – SOSS – to flop heavily into the nearest sofa / chair / bed.
POEM OF THE WEEK –
ATTENDANCE – Last week I spoke to you all about the incredibly important issue of attendance. I write again to tell you that to date we have issued 15 breach letters; they are a reminder that your child’s current attendance is causing a concern and without improvement you will be issued with penalty notice (fine). We have also issued 6 penalty notices. Failure to pay may and at times does lead to court proceedings. Families who contest the fine and the reasons why their child fails to attend school could find themselves in Crown Court. There are so many of you who send your child to school every day to give them the best opportunities to develop their life chances but there are so many families who seem to think that attendance is not a prioirity for their child. We will continue to support those of you who are struggling but I cannot stress highly enough the importance of this matter.

ATTENDANCE, PUNCTUALITY & FOOD WASTE – There were 11 children from 11 families who came late to school last week on occasions. Unfortunately it is only a small number of the same families who make up this number, so if you are struggling with your morning routine please contact the school.
A PERSON WHO IS PUNCTUAL WILL ALWAYS KNOW HOW TO RESPECT THEIR TIME AND OTHERS AS WELL.
