It has been a very busy week preparing the buildings to welcome children back next week. There are now wash stations in the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 playgrounds, yellow painted dots sprayed on to the floor measured at a distance of 2 metres, PPE stations at the entrance to every classroom and designated bubbles and cordoned off areas for the children to play. Life at school will have a very different feel to it from Monday but with your continued support we can make the last 6 weeks of the academic year as enjoyable as we can for the children. Please remember children who are returning to school next week and on the 15th June must wear school uniform. The only exception to wearing full uniform is that trainers may be worn instead of school shoes. We look forward to welcoming the children in Year 6 and Year 1 who have confirmed a place next week.
The word of the week is – TITTY-TOIT – To spruce or tidy up. (Yorkshire)
ROOFING PROJECT – Over the past two and half months the roof on the main building has been stripped, insulated an re-felted. The skylight domes have also been replaced which has given the building a new lease of life. The company have done an amazing job and are a month ahead of schedule. We no longer have to put buckets in corridors or mop heads in roofs to soak up the rain water!
EXAMPLES OF CHILDREN’S WORK THIS WEEK –
REPORTING OF ACCIDENTS – You will have received a letter today about the way we record accidents that require children to have first aid. A member of staff will complete a report that will describe what took place and how they dealt with it. The system will generate an email which will be sent to you. It is our hope that this new system will allow for ease of communication between the school and families regarding the reporting of accidents and will do away with the green card system.
VIDEOS – Mr Wanless is hard at work editing videos that explain our new systems and routines for children in Year 1 and Year 6. He will post them on the school website over the weekend. A reminder will be sent to you in the next couple of days, so please look out for it.
OPERATIONAL UPDATES – I sent a letter to everyone yesterday regarding the changes to the operational updates once the children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 return to school. You can access it here by clicking on the link. https://parkside.herts.sch.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Operational-Changes-Update.pdf I apologise once again for any confusion this may have caused.
