Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 5th April 2019

We arrive at the end of the Spring term with the worst of the bad weather consigned to another winter. There has been a very positive and happy feeling around the school this week which has helped everyone to enjoy the end to the term. Year 4 had a wonderful day exploring the ancient civilisation of the Egyptians on Tuesday and the children enjoyed their Easter eggs as they left for the holiday on Friday. We said good bye to Mrs Zrihen at assembly on Thursday morning and we wish her the very best for the future. We have been very fortunate that we have secured the services of Mr Androniou who will teach the class for the rest of the academic year and look forward to welcoming him in the new term. Our new display which encourages all children to soar for success began this week and the first recipient can be found below. Who was it? After the Easter holiday we will be introducing the Standards Trophy. We want the children to work hard to meet the highest standards and they will be judged and scored under the following standards: Behaviour in School, Homework, Behaviour on the Playground, Time Management and Respect. By setting the highest of standards the children will be given the opportunity to prove to the school community how hard they are working. I will also be inviting children from all classes to join me for hot chocolate on Fridays for always doing the right thing and setting the bar for others to follow. Systems which drive standards are crucial in helping the school to have the highest expectations for everyone. Please continue to support the school as we continue on our journey.

The world of the week is COMPUTUS – The calculation of the date of Easter. Easter is still two weeks away so enjoy the rest and we look forward to returning refreshed and recharged.

DINNER MONEY – Mrs Reffold has asked me to inform those of you who currently take a school dinner that after the Easter holiday the price of a dinner will increase to £2.50 per day – £12.50 per week – £75 for a 6 week half term – £82.50 for a 7 week half term. Payments should be made on School Gateway.

STANDARDS TROPHY – After Easter we will be introducing the Standards Trophy to the school. Its purpose is to encourage all children to have aspirations which will help to raise standards across the school. Class teachers will be responsible for ensuring that classes uphold the standards we want for our children during their time at Parkside.
