Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 4th September 2020 – Autumn 1

It has been a very different start to the beginning of new academic year, one which has brought about many changes for everyone. I hope that you all had a good summer and feel rested. The children and staff have returned to school and made the transition very smoothly. Our main focus through the year will centre on supporting the children and staff with their well – being. In order for everyone to have a positive year we must make sure that we are supportive and discuss any concerns and worries openly. There are so many changes that have been imposed on us over the past six months that we must  continue to follow guidance to keep us all safe. Please read the rest of this newsletter very carefully because there is a lot of information for you to consider and be familiar with. We look forward to working closely with you once again this year and if for any reason you need to speak with a member of staff please call the office or send an email to your child’s classteacher.

COLLECTION AND DROP OFF – We received a complaint from a local resident on Thursday afternoon about the number of parents/ carers who congregated at the gate on Allerton Road. An email was sent out to all parents/carers on Wednesday evening that reminded everyone of the times children would be dismissed from school. It also asked for everyone to follow their civic duty and adhere to government guidelines regarding social distancing. We have allowed families who have two or three children (at the school) to leave together at the end of the day. They should be collected at the double gate that leads onto Aycliffe Road. This will alleviates the pressure for those parents/carers who have to be on time to collect more than one child at two different gates. I urge you all to collect your child at the specified times and adhere to the strict guidance that remains in place. It will take time for new routines to become familiar so please continue to support the school with this very important matter.

 

 

BREAKFAST AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB – These ever popular clubs start again on Monday 7th September. If you would like your child to attend either club please use the School Gateway app to register a place. Payment must be made at the time of booking. The cost of a place at Breakfast Club is £3 per day which includes breakfast and the cost of a place at After School Club ranges from £6 – £8.50 per day and includes a snack. Children will have to maintain social distancing at all times and will remain in their year group bubbles when they attend Breakfast and After School Club for the freseeable future. PLEASE NOTE THAT CHILDREN IN THE NURSERY CAN ATTEND BREAKFAST CLUB BUT NOT AFTER SCHOOL CLUB.

WHEREVER POSSIBLE PAYMENTS FOR BREAKFAST AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB SHOULD BE MADE ELECTRONICALLY

 

 

PE – On days that children have PE we expect them to come to school in their PE Kits. Sending your child into school in full kit will save time and ensures kit can be cleaned ready for the following week.  Please make a note of day that your child has PE:

Year 1 – THURSDAY
Year 2 – TUESDAY
Year 3 – FRIDAY
Year 4 – THURSDAY
Year 5 – FRIDAY
Year 6 – MONDAY

 

 

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS – After school clubs will resume on the week beginning 14th September. They will run according to year group bubbles and will possibly run on a half term basis based on demand. Further information will be sent out next week. Please bear with us as we try and work out the best way of delivering after school clubs.

 

 

YEAR 6 SECONDARY TRANSFER – We would usually hold this very important meeting in the second or third week of the autumn term but due to Corona virus restrictions the Power Point slides with all the information you need about the process will be sent to parents/carers on THURSDAY 10th SEPTEMBER. I will be available to meet with parents / carers at scheduled appointments from MONDAY 14th SEPTEMBER THROUGH TO FRIDAY 2nd OCTOBER. We want to help you as much as possible during this very challenging time so please make sure that you book an appointment if you need any support regarding your child’s application for a place at secondary school.  The key date that you should all remember is that your application needs to be submitted by OCTOBER 31ST 2020.
