Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 4th May 2019

The annual May Day bank holiday is upon us which often signifies that we are about to enter the business end of the year. Children in Key Stage 1 and 2 sit their annual Standard Attainment Tests (SATs)  over the next two weeks so please keep them in your thoughts. They have worked hard through the year and we wish them all the very best. The whole school community came together on Monday at various times to take part in a series of on line safety workshops. The powerful message of the workshops left the children with a lot to consider. Thank you to those of you who attended the session, we hope that you found it useful. Every parent and carer is welcome to attend our Monday morning achievement assembly even if your child is not receiving a certificate. Our celebrations are open to members of our community. We look forward to seeing you at assembly.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WEEK’S CERTIFICATE AND ACHIEVEMENT CERTIFICATE WILL TAKE PLACE ON TUESDAY 7TH MAY AT 9:05AM

The words of the week are – PANTOFLE AND STADDLE – Once your toes are snugly pantofled, you can stagger off to the kitchen, pausing only to look at the little depression that you have left in your bed, the dip where you have been lying all night. This is known as a staddle.

ON LINE SAFETY WORKSHOP – The importance of this very important and sensitive issue can not be underestimated in a changing world that seems to be run by technology. The children staff and parents were shown the dangers of on line activity but more importantly how to stay safe when accessing technology and using it for the right reasons. It was a very powerful way of sharing a crucial message which has many challenges and poses many difficulties.

HOT CHOCOLATE FRIDAY – The following children shared a hot chocolate with Mr Soyka on Friday afternoon in recognition of their hard work through the week: Wyktoria, Aiona. Abdifatah, K’Asia, Soham, Chole, Diya, Chrysoulla and Keira.  Congratulations children.

PARKSIDE FLYERS – The following children were our flyers this week Philip, Louis, Anita, Yanis, Jaydon, Lily, Melisa and Harry  –   KEEP REACHING FOR THE STARS EVERYONE!

PARKSIDE STANDARDS CUP – Congratulations to the children from 6 Oak, 6 Cherry and 4 Rowan who had to share the cup this week for upholding the standards we want for our school.

ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY – Unfortunately there were 43 occasions where children arrived late to school this week. Many lates are for children who arrive late to school once a week. Please make every effort to bring your child to school on time.
