Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 4th March 2022 – Spring 8

THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPORTED CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED AT PARKSIDE COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL THIS WEEK

Word Book Day always causes a stir and this year was no different. It was really lovely to see the children dressed as their favourite characters or in their pyjamas. They were joined by an author on Thursday morning and learnt about the writing process but most importantly how our imaginations can light a spark in all of us. Congratulations to the girls’ football team who acquitted themselves incredibly well at this week’s tournament which was organised by Watford FC. Thank you for representing the school so well and a special mention to Olivia in Year 6 who was the player of the tournament. Tickets for Marky Mark’s first disco in over two years go on sale after school on Monday 7th March and will continue to be sold right up until the day –  THURSDAY 31st MARCH. All tickets priced at £3.

THE PAINTING OF KS2 FENCES WILL TAKE PLACE ONCE THE WARMER WEATHER ARRIVES. THE FENCE PANEL NEED TO BE DRY SO THAT THE PAINT SOAKS IN TO THEM. WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN TO TURN UP WITH YOUR BRUSHES OCE WE HAVE A BREAK IN THE WEATHER.

The word of the week is – FORWALLOWED – wearied from tossing and turning night after night

PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND

PARKING – This contentious issue has raised it head again this week. A very concerned member of the public spoke to me on Thursday afternoon about the dangerous and inconsiderate parking he continues to witness of a number of parents / carers who collect children from the Allerton Road gate. We do everything we can as a school to educate the children about following rules, working within boundaries and doing the right thing. It is so disappointing when members of  the school community don’t support us through inconsiderate parking. I have even seen cars parked on grass areas which is completely illegal and on the roundabout that links Allerton and Aycliffe Road! Please think about parking a few roads away from school to alleviate the difficulties at the end of the school day and walk the last few metres. Thank you to those of you who do follow the highway code and consider the safety of the children at the end of the school day.

ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY –  There were 16 children from 12 families who came late to school last week on 26 occasions. We will continue to contact families next week who repeatedly bring their child to school late on a regular basis. Please make every effort to reduce this number next week it is so important.

A PERSON WHO IS PUNCTUAL WILL ALWAYS KNOW HOW TO RESPECT THEIR TIME AND OTHERS AS WELL.
