Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 3rd December 2021 – Autumn 13

THERE HAS BEEN 1 RECORDED CASE OF CORONAVIRUS REPORTED AT PARKSIDE COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL THIS WEEK

With just two and a half weeks left until the end of term we can begin to think of Christmas. The last week of rehearsals have begun and the final productions will be performed for parents / carers in the week commencing 6th December. Tickets for this year’s performances are limited due to current COVID -19 guidelines and teachers have sent, or will send out,  details in the next few few days about how the performances will run. The school Christmas tree has arrived and over the next few days we ask that the children bring in any decorations to hang on the tree. Class parties will also take place in the week commencing 13th December and we ask that parents/carers make a £2 contribution towards costs. Whilst we know that Christmas this year will be similar to last year we are doing everything we can to help the children enjoy the festive season. Thank you for your continued support.

PLEASE HELP TO DECORATE OUR TREE

The word of the week is – SMELLFUNGUS – an habitual grumbler who will find fault in anything and everything.

HOT CHOCOLATE AND PARKSIDE FLYERS – Congratulations to Elisha, Jack, Stefan, Amelia, Daisy, Charlie, Louie, David and Abena who joined Mr Soyka for a cup of hot chocolate on Friday afternoon in recognition of their hard work and the excellent efforts they had demonstrated through the week.

Well done to this week’s Parkside Flyers – Mohamed, Luke, Alicja, Triya, Louie, Zuhra, Harshil, Charlie and Melissa. Your determination, excellent attitude and hard work have helped you to take flight this week. Keep this going please all year.

FOOD WASTE – FOOD WASTE – This week there was 69 kgs of waste which equated to 96  grammes per child. THIS IS TOO MUCH. After Christmas we will look at the school’s menu to review the dishes that are served to the children and identify which ones create the most waste. Once we have done this (in conjunction with the kitchen staff) we should to see a reduction in food that is thrown away.
