Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 28th February 2020 – Spring 7

Welcome back to another half term. I  hope that you managed to get some rest after a very busy start to the Spring term. The children have had a very busy week which culminated in three events; a cross country race for Years 5 and 6, an all day Maths workshop for children in years 4 and 5 and the ever popular disco run by Marky Mark Entertainment. Standards continue to rise across the school as we continue to nurture and inspire the children. We have booked another exciting event for the children staff and families after the Easter holiday, further details will be released next week. Watch this space!!

The word of the week is – WEATHER-MOUTH A bright, sunny patch of sky on the horizon flanked by two dense banks of cloud is the weather-mouth.

LOST PROPERTY – We have a large amount of lost property at the moment which is always a concern. Please can you ensure that all items of clothing are labelled clearly with you child’s name on.

DISCO – Thank you to everyone who supported what has become a well established event on the Friends of Parkside calendar. Over 175 children attended the two discos Thursday evening which proves how popular the event has become. Just over £300 was raised and represented a great effort. Please continue to support the wonderful work of the Friends of Parkside. Their next meeting is on Thursday 5th March at 3:30pm in Mr Soyka’s Office. If you available why not pop in and join us.

TESCO’S BAGS OF HELP – The school computing project is still being promoted at the local Borehamwood Tesco’s, so when you have finished your shopping don’t forget to ask for a blue token and support a very worthwhile cause. It will run until MARCH 31ST.

MATHS WORKSHOP – A group of children from Year 3 and 4 took part in a brilliant workshop on Wednesday with five other local schools. They were supported by Mrs Taylor  as they were led through a series of activities which tested and challenged their knowledge about tangrams, problem solving and reasoning. Mr Hall (who was returning to run a second workshop here at Parkside) was very impressed by the children’s ability and the way the schools supported each other. Thank you to Mrs Taylor for organising this exciting event.
