Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 27th November 2020 – Autumn 11

THERE HAS BEEN 1 CONFIRMED CASE OF CORONAVIRUS AT PARKSIDE COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL THIS WEEK

After a very challenging couple of weeks we welcome the children and staff in Nursery, Reception and Year 6 back to school on Monday. We have managed to remain open despite the many difficulties we have had to face which goes to show how resilient we are as a school. I would like to thank the staff for the tireless efforts they have gone to to ensure that certain year groups managed to stay open. As the Christmas period starts once again we have good reason to enjoy a special time of year. Tomorrow sees the delivery of our annual Christmas tree and we ask that you send in your hand crafted decorations so that they can be hung on the tree. The children are working hard to learn their lines for their forthcoming Christmas concerts which always means the end of term is looming. All concerts and carol services will be filmed this year and embedded on the school website for everyone to enjoy. Please remember to send your child to school in a warm coat as the cold weather draws in.

The word of the week is – ZWODDER – A drowsy state of body or mind.

REDUCTION OF THE SCHOOL’S PUBLISHED ADMISSION NUMBER – This week we received confirmation that the office of the School’s Official Adjudicator agreed to reduce the school’s Published Admissions Number from 60 down to 30. This will take effect from September 2021. Parkside Community Primary School will therefore be take one form of 30 children from September 2021. This will not affect any other year group.

EXAMPLES OF THE CHIDLREN’S WORK

CHRISTMAS TREE – The good folk at Aylett’s Nursery in St Albans have donated this year’s Christmas tree. As you can see from the picture below it’s a lovely size and will go well in the main corridor that leads from the school hall to the staffroom. Please send in your decorations over the next couple of weeks so that the children can really begin to enjoy the tree.
