It has been a half term to look back on and enjoy knowing that we are heading in the right direction. The children and staff have worked very hard throughout the half term and the fruits of their labour are beginning to take shape. Thank you to everyone who has supported the school over the past eight weeks whether it was through attendance at a a parent workshop, bringing issues to our attention that you felt needed sorting through, buying a cup of coffee at the MacMillan Cancer Research coffee morning, preparing a plate of food for the Reception International afternoon or joining the newly reformed Friends of Parkside. We have much to celebrate. As we move in to the half term break we have one eye on the future and preparations for Christmas. Have a good break and enjoy the rest! We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on MONDAY 5th NOVEMBER.
REMEMBER THAT THIS SUNDAY MARKS THE END OF BRITISH SUMMER TIME AND CLOCKS GO BACK ONE HOUR
The word of the week is: COMMUNITY – the condition of sharing or having certain attitudes and interests in common. We are a COMMUNITY school, where do you see our common attitudes and interests when you walk round our school?
PARENT WORKSHOPS – It was great to see so many parents at this week’s workshop. The children in Year 2 were thrilled to spend time with their parents / carers at the workshop showing them how they learn in Maths lessons. Thank you to everyone who attended and we hope that you found the new approach to teaching Maths useful.
DINNER MONEY – Mrs Reffold has asked for those of you whose children take a school meal to read the following carefully:

COFFEE MORNING – When I am on duty in the mornings and afternoons, many parents/carers have asked me about installing a coffee machine in the playground. Whilst the school would love to facilitate excellent idea I would like to invite parents / carers to a weekly coffee morning every Tuesday morning once you have dropped you child to school. The open session will give parents/ carers an opportunity to meet with me to discuss any concerns that they may have or any ideas we could take on as a school to improve outcomes for the children and families. I look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday 6th November.
ATTENDANCE – The official attendance for the school over that past two weeks was 94.4%. The national figure of 96% which means that we are still below this mark. Please make sure that your child attends school everyday unless they are very ill.

68 children arrived late to school on the weeks 15th – 26th October. This is far too many children arriving to school after 9 o’clock and an increase of 15 children. We must reduce this figure and make sure our children arrive to school on time!
