Today marks the end of a very strange Spring term. We have only been back at school for three weeks and the children have worked incredibly hard to familiarise themselves with old routines and reconnect with friends and learning yet we arrive at a natural pause in the academic year. The consultations that took place this week were a great success and gave parents and carers the opportunity to hear how children have returned to school and the progress they have made through the term. Thank you to everyone who kept their appointments but there were a number of you who didn’t make an appointment or turn up to speak with your child’s class teacher. All staff have worked incredibly hard over the past 12 months to make sure that they have done everything they can to support your child’s learning during a very challenging and difficult time. Please contact the school office to make an appointment to speak with your child’s class teacher as soon as possible after the Easter holiday if they haven’t contacted you already. Have a relaxing Easter break and we look forward to seeing the children again on Tuesday 13th April.
The word of the week is – NOD-CRAFTY – nodding the head with an air of great wisdom when you actually tuned out a while ago.
EXAMPLES OF THE CHILDREN’S WORK THIS WEEK –
MAGIC SHOW AND WATFORD FC WORKSHOP – The children enjoyed Magic Gareth’s show on Tuesday morning as an early Easter treat. The magician was absolutely awesome and dazzled the children with his tricks.
Year 5 took part in a very important on line workshop hosted by Watford football club on the topic on the important issue of racism via the Kick it Out campaign. They were joined by John Barnes and Luther Blissett the former England and Watford strikers and learnt about the devastating impact racism has on people’s lives. Thank you children for being such great ambassadors for our school.
EASTER CARDS – Every class made a card for the elderly residents of two local homes this week. The staff from the homes were overjoyed by the children’s efforts and thanked them for producing such wonderful cards for the residents to enjoy.
ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY – There were 25 occasions where children came school this week from 7 families. Thank you to everyone who brings their child to school on time everyday.
