Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 25th January 2019
As January draws to a close we can begin to think of the promise of spring! The cold weather and the snow haven’t dampened spirits and the children remain very focused on their work. Our new school library was officially opened on Thursday by the Deputy Mayor and Mr Marc Boucherat in the presence of governors, parents / carers and the school council. Despite the weather it was a wonderful occasion for everyone. When you collect or drop off please pop in to the new library and see just how lucky we are to have such a resource. The talent show is taking place tonight and tickets are still available so please come along to join the fun. It has been brought to my attention about the difficulty children experience when they play games on line together or use social platforms to communicate. When used appropriately, on line communication can be an excellent way of developing a child’s thinking and creativity, but when it is used to undermine and taunt it has a very negative impact on friendships. The school works hard to educate the children in the appropriate use of technology but we have recently spent a lot of time dealing with issues that have been brought into school because of situations that have been created at home.I ask that all parents / carers keep a close eye and supervise their child’s activity when they use the internet or a mobile phone. Thank you for your help with this very important issue. The next round of parent/carer workshops are underway! We enjoy having our parents / carers in school so please make sure you are able to support your child’s learning in a very relaxed atmosphere by making sure you are able to attend. We look forward to welcoming you.
The word of the week is FORTITUDE – strength of mind that enables one to endure adversity. During these cold winter months we all need a little fortitude so that we can appreciate the gift of Spring.
TALENT SHOW – Tonight sees the children from the Early Years and Key Stage 1 take to the stage. Tickets are still available from the office priced at £3, so if you want to spend a night being entertained by our wonderful children come along and enjoy the fun. Doors open at 4:45pm. Children need to be back at school for 4:30pm. We look forward to welcoming you.
