Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 22nd October 2021 – Autumn 8

THERE HAS BEEN 1 RECORDED CASE OF CORONAVIRUS THIS WEEK AT SCHOOL

When we return after half term the clocks will have gone back by an hour and the days grow shorter by the week, but we don’t let the natural passing of time stand in the way of progress. The second half of the Michalemas (autumn) term is one full of promise and often where children make good progress. That being said this week has also been full of excitement, opportunities to develop and embed learning and the celebration of Harvest. We hope that you all have a good rest over half term and return to school on MONDAY NOVEMBER 1st refreshed and ready to welcome the new term.

The word of the week is – SUSPIRE – to breathe out with a sigh

EXAMPLES OF THE CHILDREN’S WORK THIS WEEK

HARVEST ASSEMBLY – We were treated to a wonderful Harvest Assembly this morning. Every class performed a poem, rap or sung a song associated with harvest. The children were absolutely brilliant. Thank you to the staff for preparing them for a wonderful assembly and to everyone who donated much needed toiletries for the residents of the Mead Care Home.

LIBRARY PLAQUE UNVEILED IN MEMORY OF MAIREAD BOUCHERAT – After a delay of nearly 18 months we were able to unveil the plaque which commemorated the life of Mairead Boucherat a former member of the HfL Special Needs Team who worked at Parkside. We were joined by her former husband and son for the occasion and members of the School Council were also in attendance. Mairead and Marc paid for the building which is now our school library and to have such a wonderful resource available to develop the children’s love of learning is a real gift. We will be able to remember Mairead’s legacy for many years to come and thank her and Marc for their incredible generosity.
