Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 22nd April 2022 – Summer 1

Welcome back to the start of the summer term. I hope that you all had a wonderful Easter holiday and feel rested. As always, it as a delight to welcome the children back to school on Wednesday morning. They settled in to their learning straight away with great gusto and have continued to produce a high standard of work. Our girls’ football team were in action once again this week as they took part in a tournament. They acquitted themselves incredibly well and reached the semi finals but lost to Woodlands 4-0. Congratulations to everyone who took part. Now that the warmer weather is with us once again please remember to label your child’s clothing and ensure that they wear a jumper and coat on the colder mornings. We look forward to a fantastic term ahead and to continue working together.

The word of the week is – BEEK – (13th century) – to luxuriate for a while in the warmth of the sun, moment or other people.

POEM OF THE WEEK

PARENTS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION – The next meeting of the PFA has been rearranged for Thursday 28th April after school in the Year 2 classroom. It is very important that as many of you who are available attend. We will discuss the arrangements for  the Summer Fayre, the open air cinema event and our last disco of the year before thinking about next year’s plans. Please make every effort to attend.

NEWLY PAINTED FENCES AND TABLES NOT FORGETTING THE SAPLINGS! – During the Easter holiday our Chair of Governors, Karen Forrester, her husband, Mr Honour and a few of her friends painted the fences in the KS2 playground unbeknown to anyone. I am sure that you’ll agree they did a fantastic job! A couple of weeks before Easter, Karen gave up a Sunday afternoon to plant a number of tree saplings which she applied for through a local grant so that future generations of Parkside children can enjoy them in years to come. You will see them dotted along the hedgerows that run along the school field if you walk up the pathway from Allerton Road. I think we owe them all a debt of gratitude and all of our thanks.

WD6 FOOD SUPPORT – The WD6 Food support is open on WEDNESDAY & FRIDAYS from 3:15pm – 4:30pm. Parkside families can have access from 3:15pm directly after school.
PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND

ATTENDANCE, PUNCTUALITY & FOOD WASTE –  There were 13 children from 9 families who came late to school last week on 14 occasions. Unfortunately it is only a small number of families who make up this number, so if you are struggling with your morning routine please contact the school.

A PERSON WHO IS PUNCTUAL WILL ALWAYS KNOW HOW TO RESPECT THEIR TIME AND OTHERS AS WELL.
