Visits from county advisers, the start of the many after school clubs and meet the teacher meetings have made it a busy week. A small but select group of children also experienced lunch in a different setting this week. They were taught the importance of table etiquette as they shared lunch with Mr Soyka on Friday lunchtime. The displays have also been changed in the communal areas adding a touch of colour but more importantly displaying the children’s work. It gives it a purpose and demonstrates their learning. There are displays that range from the conquests of Julius Caesar to the heart breaking but incredible story of Ernest Shackleton. Please spend some time reading through the work next time you are in the building. Dont forget the school photographer is in on Thursday 26th September and will take individual photos. Please make sure that your child is dressed in full school uniform. The children have really settled well in to their new classes and early signs in their books are reflecting the standards we want here at Parkside. Please continue to support the school in all that we do.
The word of the week is – OMPERLODGE: To disagree with or contradict someone.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS– Many of our clubs have already started but the rest will commence either next week or the week after. We have tried very hard to keep costs down so that they are as accessible to everyone so please talk to your child if they want to take part in the football, multi sports, art, sewing, table tennis, netball, film, cooking or chess club. We have been very fortunate to secure the services of a former Premier League footballer to run the football club for Years 1/2 and 3/4 so if you haven’t booked your place do please sign up. We are working very hard to make provision for your child before and after school through the various clubs we run. Please support the school by offering them the chance to further their education in a fun and meaningful way.
FRIENDS OF PARKSIDE – The Annual General Meeting of this incredibly important group will be held on FRIDAY 27th SEPTEMBER at 3:30pm in the Nursery. Last year we managed to raise over £4,000 which was a magnificent achievement. This year we want to build on this sum by offering you all opportunities to take part in a firework display, discos, talent shows, our annual summer fayre and many other activities. Everyone is invited to come to the meeting and the more people we have supporting the cause the greater the number of events we can put on. Please make every effort to attend.

SCHOOL LIBRARY – We are looking for volunteers to help in our school library. We need a hand to tidy up the shelves and organise the books for the children in to their respective areas. If you able to lend a hand for a few hours on WEDNESDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER FROM 9 THROUGH TO 11 please can you let the staff in the office know. Thank you.
ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY – There were 32 occasions where children were late to school this week. It is so important that children come to school on time and prepared everyday. Thank you to those of you who bring your child to school on time everyday.
Congratulations to the children from WILLOW class who had 100% attendance this week. FANTASTIC!!
