Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 19th May 2023 – Summer 4

The past couple of weeks have seen the children in Years 2 and 6 sit their SATs papers. They have all worked incredibly hard and got through the tests well. Thank you children. Next Friday is the start of half term and school finishes at the usual time of 3:15pm. The next half term is always full of events so please make sure that you use the diary on the front page of the school website to keep up to date with things. Please make sure that you take note of the message regarding uniform below.

UNIFORMI often write to families about this issue on a regular basis to remind them about the importance of wearing our school uniform. Uniform gives a child a sense of belonging and feeling proud of being a member of the school community and many of you make sure that you set a good example to your child when you do this. Yet there are a number of children who come to school in the wrong uniform. I regularly see children coming to school in trainers, branded shorts, jogging bottoms instead of trousers and branded polo shirts. Not only does this undermine the purpose of having a uniform it sets the wrong example. We try and keep uniform costs to a minimum and the only item we insist on the children wearing is a school jumper or cardigan. If your child is in Year 5 or 6 we expect them to set the example to the younger children. Children will continue to grow and will need new uniform as and when this happens. We can help you with this but we expect you to support the school and send them in to school in the correct uniform. Letters will be sent home to families whose children breach the policy for them to respond in the appropriate way. Let’s all take pride in our school in the most simple way we know and send our children to school feeling proud and looking smart. Thank you.

This week’s word of the week – QUIDDLE – to spend all your time attending to trivial things, as a way of avoiding the important ones.
