Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 19th March 2021 – Spring 9

THERE HAVE BEEN O RECORDED CASES OF CORONAVIRUS THIS WEEK AT PARKSIDE COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL

With one week left until the end of term it feels as if we are at the beginning of a new term! The children continue to settle  in to old routines and seem to be very happy to be back in the classroom. We are working very hard with a number of classes to remind them of the boundaries and appropriateness of friendships. Please spend some time with your child over the weekend reminding them of the importance of this aspect of school life. They have spent a long time out of education and for some children reigniting friendships is going to take time. We are here to support all of our families in whatever way we can so of your child is experiencing difficulties please do let us know.

The word of the week is – CONFELICITY – joy in another person’s happinness

EXAMPLES OF THE CHILDREN’S WORK DURING LOCKDOWN FROM YEAR 6 –

RED NOSE DAY  – It was lovely to see the school awash with red today. Children came to school dressed in football colours, red dresses and skirts, red t-shirts, jumpers and a vast array of different fancy dress costumes. Whilst it was a simple way of supporting this excellent charity it lifted everyone’s spirits. We managed to raise over £200 which was a fantastic effort so thank you to everyone who contributed.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT IT IS UP TO EVERYONE TO PAY THEIR £1 DONATION IN EXCHANGE FOR A DAY OF WEARING RED. THE CHARITY RELIES HEAVILY ON YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO MANY FAMILIES ACROSS THE WORLD.

STANDARDS – On Wednesday the school’s English adviser paid us a visit. She was very impressed with the quality and excellent standards of the children’s work. There will always be a number of areas we can improve and rest assured we will do this but I think we should  take a moment to congratulate the children and their teachers.

PARENT/CARER – TEACHER CONSULTATIONS –  SECOND WEEK – These very important meetings take place on Wednesday 24th March and Thursday 25th March. Appointments can be booked on the Teachers2Parents application and will take place using ZOOM. The link to the meetings will be sent out closer to the date. Teachers will speak to you about your child’s engagement with their learning through lockdown and how they have settled on their return to learning. Please make every effort to attend these meetings. They are limited to 10 minutes per appointment.

ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY – There were  27 occasions when children came late to school this week (9 families). It is so important that your child comes to school on time everyday. It sets the right example and is an incredibly important life skill. If you are struggling in the mornings we are on hand to offer lots of advice and support. Please contact Mrs Matthoile our Parental Engagement Officer via email or by phone.
