The penultimate week in any half term often tend to be the busiest and this week was no exception. It was lovely to see so many of you at our Harvest Festival assembly and at Family Learning Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday. The children have been working incredibly hard over the term and based on the evidence from current learning walks and progress meetings that have taken place recently, standards are definitely improving. Please continue to support the school in all that we do. One way every member of the school community can help to get behind the changes, is to buy a ticket for the Friends of Parkside’s forthcoming Firework Extravaganza. Further details below.
The word of the week is – ERSTWHILE – this very British sounding word refers to things that are not current, that belong to a former time, rather like the word itself.
HARVEST FESTIVAL ASSEMBLY – There was standing room only at Thursday morning’s assembly which was fantastic to see. The children were well prepared by staff and they didn’t disappoint. We were treated to songs and poems about the richness of the harvest season. The children sang with harnessed energy and recited their poems with gusto. Thank you for your generous donations too, they were gratefully received. They will be collected by representatives from the Borehamwood Food Bank on Monday. It is incredibly important for parents/carers to stay until the end of an assembly unless it is absolutely necessary to leave part way through as a mark of respect for the children.
FRIENDS OF PARKSIDE PRESENT …FIREWORK EXTRAVAGANZA MONDAY 4th NOVEMBER 6:30PM – 8:00PM
The Friends of Parkside are very pleased to announce another BIG community event – their first ever Firework Extravaganza. You came in great number for the Harvest Festival and we hope that you will be able to support this fantastic event. The display will be set to music which will give it that extra special feel and the weather report on the long range forecast looks good. Please bring your family and friends and let us make this a night to remember. Tickets are on sale before and after school in the playground and at the school office.
PLEASE NOTE I WILL BE OPENING THE SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY THURSDAY AND FRIDAY OF HALF TERM FOR TICKET SALES. PLEASE COME TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE.

ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY – Due to the local roadworks there have been issues for families travelling to and from school this week. There have been 58 occasions where children came to school late this week. It is vital that families make provision for their journeys to and from school so that children are on time.
Congratulations to the children from 3 BIRCH who had the best attendance this week with 98.6%.
