Whilst the weather may have been inclement it certainly hasn’t dampened spirits this week. The children continue to be an inspiration to us all. They have produced some excellent pieces of work and we look forward to them producing more high quality work. Some examples can be seen below. Next week the Ark Farm pay us a visit and the children will have the opportunity to meet and handle a menagerie of animals. We are looking forward to welcoming: Billy, Wobble & Ollie, the sheep; Declan the Miniature Donkey; Penelope & Pippa, the Kune Kune Pigs; Charles, Sophie & Snowy the ducks; Speckles, Spot & Fluff, the chickens; Esme & Meggie, the pygmy goats and Gopa or Kiboko, the friendly farm dogs. We may even get to see some baby animals! Keep your eye on the school’s Facebook page, Twitter feed and Instagram page for updates through the day.
PUNCTUALITY – I am very concerned by the number of children who come to school late every day. I know this refers to a small number of families but the impact it has on the whole school is far reaching. 28 children were late on 46 occasions this week. I cannot stress highly enough the importance of coming to school on time. It is such an important life skill and teaches your child about the importance of organisation, discipline and preparation. The difficulty your child faces when they walk in to their class knowing that they are late, is not a position they should ever have to experience. They tell us that they feel shame and embarrassment. Please do everything you can to ensure that your child arrives at school on time.

The word of the week is – MELORISM – the belief that the world can be made a better place through compromise and concerted human effort.

POEM OF THE WEEK –
FOOD WASTE – This week the food waste was 73.450 kgs or 477 grammes per child. Whilst this was significantly less waste than last week (on average) it is still too high. Mrs Taylor and the school council have worked together to make amendments to the menu which should help to reduce the amount of waste the children throw away.
ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY – There were 28 pupils who came to late school on 46 occasions this week. Thank you to everyone who makes sure that they are on time for school everyday.
