Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 13th October 2023 – Autumn 6
There is one week to go until half term and the weather has certainly changed for the worse. Despite the rain and the grey clouds there has been a lot of brightness and light in and amongst the children and staff. Many of you attended your child’s Maths workshop which we hope you found useful. Many of the strategies you used this morning will help you to support your child’s learning at home. It was also really encouraging to meet with a number of parents and carers at this morning’s Friends of Parkside meeting. New Officers were appointed and they have set dates for two events which will take place this term – Marky Mark’s Disco on FRIDAY 1st DECEMBER and an after school cake sale on FRIDAY 15th DECEMBER. Please keep a look out for further details in the coming weeks. Years 4 and 6 spent Friday at the Natural History in Tring and really developed their learning about the current topics they are studying at present. It was also great to welcome a couple of our governors to school this week. They spent time in classes listening to children read and experiencing our fantastic Monday morning assembly. We look forward to seeing them coming in to school through the course of the year. Please continue to support the school in all that we do.
The word of the week is – FLENCHED – 19th Century – weather that promises to improve but never does.
THE BIG QUESTION – If people love in a time zone ahead of us, does it mean that they live in the future?
Try discussing this question with your child to help them think about developing their thinking skills
THIS WEEK’S EXAMPLES OF THE CHILDREN’S WORK –
CHANGE TO THE START OF THE SCHOOL DAY – Week 7 – The government has issued a directive to all schools about 32.5 hours of teaching time every child in the country is entitled to. We will continue to put it in all of our newsletters from the start of the new academic year until FRIDAY 20th OCTOBER.
