Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 13th May 2022 – Summer 4

I want to start this newsletter by saying how well our Year 6 children coped with their SATs papers this week. They were a credit to the school and all of the members of staff who were involved in preparing them for the tests. With just over a week to go until our whole school visit to watch the Changing of the Guard, you should have all received the itinerary for the day. It promises to be a great event and a wonderful way to start our celebrations of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Please make sure that you complete the online consent form before MONDAY 23rd MAY. Have a wonderful weekend.

The word of the week is – IPSEDIXITISM – (19th Century) the insistence that something is ‘fact’ because someone else said so.

OLIVER DOWDEN MP VISIT – The MP for Hertsmere and Co-Chairman of the Conservative Party visited school today/. He was put through his paces by the school council who grilled him on a number of issues that ranged from rubbish on the local streets to the role of the prime minister. He spoke passionately about the local area and his hopes for education. He then me with Mrs Forrester and myself where we continued to debate about the ongoing challenges we face as a school and the education system as a whole. All in all it was a very positive experience. Thank you Mr Dowden for giving us your time.
