Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 13th March – Spring 9

The main story this week has been about the rapid spread of the coronavirus. The school is well set should the situation change over the coming weeks. We will continue to implement advice from the Department for Education and the County to mitigate the risk of the virus spreading in our own community.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING :

Should you experience a high temperature
A new continuous cough
A shortness of breath
STAY AT HOME

This will help to protect others in the school community whilst you are infectious. The school has an Action Plan in place and we are currently at STAGE 3 – Mitigate Delay. This means we have taken the following steps :
AS FROM MONDAY 16TH MARCH ALL ASSEMBLIES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED
ALL SCHOOL TRIPS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED
ALL LARGE SCHOOL EVENTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED (EASTER EGG HUNT)
WHERE POSSIBLE CHILDREN WILL NOT SIT ON THEIR CLASS CARPET

We will continue to screen children should they present with symptoms similar to the virus. They will be sent home and families must self quarantine the child for 7 days.

The school will continue to clean the school thoroughly.

As a school we want to do every thing we possibly can to mitigate the risk of the virus spreading and expect that all families will support the interventions we have put in to place. Thank you for your continued support.

The word of the week is – FLOBLY- MOBLY  – the perfect word for describing the feeling of not being unwell, but not feeling your best.

POPCORN NIGHTS – Thank you to everyone who supported this event. Both nights were well attended and the children thoroughly enjoyed watching Toy Story 4 and Abominable whilst eating their popcorn. We managed to raise just under £300 which is a wonderful achievement. Our thanks must go to the Friends of Parkside and the staff who helped to organise the event.

SPORT RELIEF – Thank you to everyone to who donated to this excellent charity. The children really enjoyed coming to school in their favourite sports kit and completing different exercises through the day. If you haven’t donated your pounds you will be contacted to make a donation. The final figure will be given in next week’s newsletter.

ATTENDANCE + PUNCTUALITY – There were 34 sessions when children arrived late to school this week. It would be an amazing achievement if parents and carers were able to send their child to school on time everyday and as a school we were able to record that no child was late to school.
