Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 13th January 2023 – Spring 2
Well what a week it has been it has been at Parkside. After a week of torrential rain with very few hours of sunlight we arrive at the end of the week waiting for the good weather to come. The children have really enjoyed their learning this week despite the challenge of the weather and there has been much to celebrate already. January is often a quiet month but this year we seemed to have bucked the trend. Please make sure that your child comes to school in the correct uniform and stays as healthy as possible during the winter months.
The word of the week is – GROWLERY – a place you retreat to for purposes of growling, muttering and letting off steam.
POEM OF THE WEEK –
THIS WEEK’S EXAMPLES OF THE CHILDREN’S WORK –
DROPPING YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IN THE MORNING – I wrote to you all on Wednesday about dropping your child to school and the rules associated with this important part of the school day. Whilst we understand that for many young children this can be a difficult part of the day, it is a vitally important step in their development. Parents and carers in Nursery and Reception ONLY are allowed on site to ensure that their child arrive safely to their class but children in Years 1 – 6 must come on to the site on their own. We will of course allow you to accompany your child to their class if they experience distress. Only family members will be permitted on site at this time. Please remember to follow these simple but necessary rules. If you are spoken to about coming on to site when it is not permitted, please remember that we are working together for the good of the school community and for the safety of the children and we do not expect to be challenged because of this. Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
PLEASE CAN YOU RETURN ANY SCHOOL UNIFORM THAT HAS BEEN LENT TO YOU AS A MATTER OF URGENCY. CLASSES ARE RUNNING LOW ON SPARE ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN LOANED OUT. THANK YOU.

LEAVING SCHOOL BEFORE THE END OF THE DAY – From time to time children will need to leave school before the end of the school day. In order for us to release your child we ask that you provide documentation to the school office to verify all appointments. Thank you.
CLASS ASSEMBLIES – Class assemblies will once again become a feature of the school year after a break of nearly three years. Teachers will prepare their classes in the coming weeks for a weekly class assembly to which parents and carers will be invited. We look forward not only to welcoming you but watching the children perform and showcasing their talents. Further details to follow.
ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY – There were 26 children from 22 families who were late to school on 37 occasions this week. Please make every effort to be on time for school, the effect it has on your child can have a lasting impact on their rates of progress.
