Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 12th November 2021 – Autumn 10

THERE HAVE BEEN NO CASES OF CORONAVIRUS RECORDED AT PARKSIDE COMMUNITY SCHOOL THIS WEEK

After  relatively quiet week which was punctuated by today’s dress to impress event, our attention turns to this weekend’s Remembrance Day services. The school observed yesterday’s two minutes silence and many children have bought a poppy, slap band, pencil or a school bag reflector to support the Royal British Legion’s poppy appeal. Thank you for your support. Tickets go on sale on Monday for the PFA’s next event, the very popular FILM NIGHT. Tickets costs £3 and will be on sale after school from Monday 15th in the school playground. Children will choose a film to watch and eat freshly made popcorn washed down by a cup of juice. We look forward to putting on this lovely little event and selling lots of tickets.

The word of the week is – FLARNECKING – vulgar flaunting and shameless ostentation.

THIS WEEK’S EXAMPLES OF THE CHILDREN WORK

VISIT FROM PIERRE HENRY-FONTAINE – Sports for Champions ambassador Pierre Henry Fontaine paid us a visit on Wednesday morning. Pierre had a promising career ahead of him until tragedy struck. He says –
“My greatest achievement has to be when I ruptured my Achilles tendon twice in the space of two years. It ended up being a career ending experience but I decided to transfer my skill set into helping people by becoming an athlete and youth mentor which is a job that fills me with great pride.”
The children enjoyed their sessions with Pierre and really worked hard to improve their fitness through the day. A special mention to Skye who raised over £80 for the charity; a tremendous achievement. It was a really inspirational visit. Thank you Pierre.

FOOD WASTEFOOD WASTE – This week there was 87.5 kgs of waste which equated to 117.6 grammes per child. THIS IS TOO MUCH.
