Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 12th June 2020 – Summer 6

We welcomed the children from Year 1 and Year 6 back to school this week. It was lovely to see them all and they have all settled back in to their routines very quickly. Our children in Reception Fir and Pine return on Monday after a three month absence. Miss Chandler, Miss Hemsworth and their team have worked hard all week to prepare the classrooms for the children. Whilst the rooms will look and feel very different the children will have lot of opportunities to rekindle friendships and rediscover their love of learning. Please remember to collect packs of work from the entrance on Allerton Road for your child. Whilst the restrictions are set to ease over the next few days we must remain vigilant at all times. Stay safe.

The word of the week is  –  JEDDARTY-JIDDARTY – Also spelled jiggerdy-jaggardy. Either way it means entwined or tangled.

ANNUAL REPORT TO PARENTS / CARERS – I am in the process of reading through the children’s annual reports which takes a great deal of time. You will all receive a copy no late than July 10th. Teachers have written them based on the children’s acquisition of  learning from the Autumn term through to the middle of March when the school was forced to close. The format will differ from last year’s and will be clearer to understand. I look forward to sharing more information with you over the weeks ahead.

DONATIONS OF BOOKS – Miss Taha,  Mrs Knowles and Mr Wedger have worked very hard to organise the books in the library in to the Dewey classification system over the past few weeks. All of us are very thankful for their hard work. The shelves are now full! If you have made a donation to the school over the past year or so I would like to thank you but at present we are no longer in need of any more books.
