Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 12th July 2019
With just over a week to go until we break for the summer holiday the penultimate week of term always brings one of the highlights of the school year – the Year 6 end of term production. We look forward to their two performances of Robin Hood next Wednesday and Friday. You should have all received a letter yesterday which detailed the arrangements for the new academic year. Whilst we say good bye and thank you to a number of staff we welcome many new faces to the team here at Parkside. I am fully aware of the difficulties the school has gone through over the past few years but my commitment to your children and the school remains. I have spoken to many parents and carers this morning to discuss your concerns. Please be reassured that the school will continue to make progress under the new staff that will join us in September. Many of them come with years of experience whilst some are newly qualified. It is the responsibility of the school to make sure that we are in a position to give the children the very best in terms of high quality teaching and to create an environment that promotes a curriculum whose intention is to offer aspiration, challenge and success. If you have any concerns regarding the arrangements for next year please do make an appointment to come and speak with me and continue to support the school in all that you do.
The word of the week is – VOMITORIUM – A passage where you can exit a building usually a theatre.
YEAR 6 END OF TERM PRODUCTION – ROBIN HOOD – The final set of rehearsals are taking place and the children are working incredibly hard to remember stage directions, words to songs and most importantly their lines. It promises to be a good show. We will serve tea and coffee after the show. Performance times for next week are as follows:
Wednesday 17th July – Curtain up at 6.00pm
Friday 19th July – Curtain up at 2.00pm
DINNER MONEY – ALL ACCOUNTS MUST BE SETTLED IN FULL BY THE END OF TERM. ANY OUTSTANDING DEBT WILL BE FORWARD TO HCC FINANCE DEPARTMENT WHO WILL THEN PURSUE PAYMENT.
ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY – 92% of children were on time through the week. This is an improvement from last week, but we must make sure that this figure is as close to 100% every week.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHILDREN OF 4 ROWAN WITH ANOTHER WEEK OF 100% ATTENDANCE. THANK YOU CHILDREN, THANK YOU PARENTS AND CARERS.

It has come to my attention that many parents and carers are taking their children on holiday before the end of the school year. If you child has 15 or more sessions which are unauthorised over two terms you will be sent a breach letter explaining the reasons why. You will then be sent another letter which details the fine that will be imposed for your child’s absence. It may seem like a drastic measure but it is a necessary one as the school continues to tackle the issue it has with attendance.
