Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 11th September 2020 – Autumn 2

The first full week of term has been very challenging adapting to new systems and protocols but everyone has coped very well. The children have adapted very quickly to the changes and we are all very proud of them. The system for collecting your child at the end of the day has changed quite a lot since we have returned and we are confident that the one that we have in place currently is working well. It is vital that you collect your child and leave with them as soon as they have been returned to you to keep the flow of people moving. If you stand around and by the gates it stops others from collecting their child. Please support the school with this very important issue. We hope to invite you to our assemblies over the coming weeks via ZOOM. Further details to follow.

The word of the week is – YAWMAGORP – A yawm is a yawn, and a gorp is a mouth. So a yawmagorp is  someone who seems constantly to be yawning and stretching wearily. (Yorkshire)

COLLECTION AT THE END OF THE DAY – We have been impressed as a school by the large numbers of parents and carers who are maintaining social distancing and waiting patiently (in line) to collect their child after school. There have been a number of changes to the procedures since we returned last week but the system we have in place will remain for the foreseeable future. I want to draw your attention to the following:

NURSERY
Nursery parents and carers must line up on the white dots to the right of the main gate that leads up to the school office. Your child should  be dropped off and collected at this gate.

RECEPTION
Reception parents and carers must line up on the white dots to the right of the main gate that leads up to the school office. Your child should be dropped off and collected at this gate.

YEAR 1
Year 1 parents and carers must line up on the path that leads to the outdoor area in Year 1 at the end of the day and enter and exit via the pedestrian gate next to the double gates that lead in to the car park.

PLEASE NOTE FROM MONDAY 14th SEPTEMBER ALL PARENTS AND CARERS MUST WEAR MASKS WHEN THEY ENTER THE SCHOOL SITE. THIS IS FOR ONLY YEAR 1 PARENTS AND CARERS

YEAR 2
Year 2 parents and carers must wait on the white dots to the left of the double gates that lead in to the playground on Aycliffe Road.

ALLERTON ROAD – COLLECTION POINTS FOR YEARS 3 – 6
Parents and carers in Year 3 to 6 must wait on the white dots that lead to the gate on Allerton Road at their respsective times.

  • PLEASE NOTE THAT CHILDREN WILL NOT BE RELEASED TO PARENTS / CARERS UNLESS THEY ARE IN THE QUEUE ON AYCLIFFE AND ALLERTON ROAD AT THE CORRECT TIMES.
  • ONCE YOU HAVE COLLECTED YOU CHILD PLEASE VACATE THE AREA AROUND THE GATES ON AYCLIFFE AND ALLERTON ROAD AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID ANY UNNECESSARY HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES.
  • STAFF WILL NO LONGER DROP CHILDREN TO FAMILY MEMBERS WHETHER THEY ARE WAITING ON PAVEMENTS OR IN CARS.

Thank you for your support over this very important matter.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – If your child develops symptoms of Coronavirus and are unsure what to do please follow the guidance from the NHS at the following link. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/

ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY – There were 14 occasions where children were late to school this week. This is far too many children coming to school late. We open the gates to the school from 8:30am to give parents / carers enough time to get their child to school on time. Thank you to those of you who do bring your child to school on time.
