Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 10th March 2023 – Spring 9

Well it has been another action packed week at Parkside where so much has happened. I met with Prince Edward yesterday at the opening of the new sound stage at the new Sky Studios. It was a wonderful experience but more importantly for the school to be represented at such a prestigious occasion. It was also really encouraging to see so many parents and carers at our class assemblies and reading workshops this week. Please continue to support us in all that we do. We will hold a meeting of the Friends Association before the end of term and I encourage each and every one of you to attend. The Electric Umbrella company came to school on Thursday morning and gave a rousing performance which the whole school enjoyed. The Electric Umbrella  “create amazing live music experiences with learning disabled people. In doing so we help change the way the world looks at them – and others” and they certainly didn’t disappoint, so much so we have invited them back next year too perform once again; something I know we are all looking forward to. Please remember that there is industrial action taking place next week.

The word of the week is – PARWHOBBLE – to speak continuously so that you never hear the voice of anyone.

ROYAL VISIT TO SKY STUDIOS ELSTREE – It was my privilege to represent the school at the official opening of the new sound stage at Sky Studios Elstree on Thursday afternoon. I met Prince Edward in my official capacity as a member of the Sky Community Board and we spoke about the importance of bringing opportunities for young people to work in television and film as a career but also about the legacy and association Borehamwood and Elstree has with the film and television industry.
