Year 6 Home Learning: Google Classroom

Good Morning everyone, we hope you had a lovely weekend.

As of today, we are ensuring all work is set on Google Classroom. Google Classroom can be accessed via a laptop or through an app using an IPAD or smart phone.

To see your learning using a computer, you will will need to log on via: ttps://classroom.google.com 

Once here you will then need to log in using the email address and password that Miss Wood or Mr Wanless gave you. Please contact us if you need your login details at:

Some devices are asking for a class code, remember to ensure you are signed in under your school email account and not your personal email.

Below we have also attached a ‘How to access Google Classroom‘ guide to help you navigate the system. Once again, we are both available to support you with any difficulties which may arise.

All work on Google Classroom can be accessed online and no printing of worksheets will be needed.  Work can be ‘handed in’ directly to the class teacher who can then give feedback.

Today you will finish reading  ‘Just the Beginning’ and then need to answer the comprehension questions set.  This has been set as a 2Do in Purple Mash.

 

DT:

Using the information you found out yesterday and the food wheel, create a day’s meals for an 11 year old boy or girl. They will need breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as some healthy snacks and drinks. Remember to include food from all food groups but also make the meals interesting enough to tempt them. Write it out on the template provided or create your own.

In this lesson, we will step inside Sherlock’s office at 221b Baker Street and finally see what lies behind the mysterious front door. We will develop our knowledge of clauses and phrases, and generate descriptive vocabulary about Sherlock’s office.

DT: Today we are looking at healthy eating and the foods you need to eat to help you maintain a healthy diet. We all enjoy a takeaway and sweet and savoury snacks but do they keep us healthy. To have a balanced diet you need to be eating food from all of the different food groups.

Using information from the poster and from your own research, design your own poster that promotes healthy eating and that encourages others to choose a healthy diet. Start your poster with a title, then fill it with facts, illustrations and text boxes.

DT: Lesson 4 – Choose a recipe for a savoury dish. It could be mini pizzas, cheese scones, pasta bake or you may have an idea of your own.

When cooking, it is important to evaluate the finished dish to decide what went well, if anything was difficult and most importantly if you were successful in creating something delicious. It helps if you decide to recreate the recipe to adapt it.
