THERE WAS 1 CONFIRMED CASE OF CORONAVIRUS AT PARKSIDE COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL THIS WEEK
I want to start this week’s newsletter by offering you an apology. The unprecendented challenges the school has faced this week that led to the closure of five year groups and the subsequent challenges and demands it has placed on you all as families has been huge. The inconvenience the closure has caused in terms of child care arrangements and changes to work patterns has also been another hurdle that was placed in your way. And for this I am very sorry. Meetings with parents / carers will now take place on line and face to face meetings kept to a minimum. We have to mitigate risk as much as possible and by keeping face to face contact to a minimum we are in a far stronger position to combat the fight against the virus. Thank you to everyone who managed to keep two year groups open. I look forward to returning to school next week and seeing you all.
The word of the week is – SPINKIE-DEN – A woodland clearing full of flowers. (Scots)
FREE SCHOOL MEALS – We are currently in the process of organising a food pack to be delivered to your home address through Morrisons PLC. These packs would be sent out as a replacement to your child receiving a free school meal at school and would be ordered during periods of Covid related school closure lasting a week or more or if your child is required to self isolate due to bubble closures. The food packs replace the current provision of collecting a lunch from school each day and do not extend to school holiday times. If you would like to receive a food pack for your child during covid related school closures or periods of self isolation please use the link below to fill out the consent form.
PLEASE NOTE YOU SHOULD ONLY APPLY FOR THIS INITIATIVE IF YOU ARE IN RECEIPT OF BENEFIT FREE SCHOOL MEALS
If you think that you are entitled to a free school meal please click the link to complete the application form.
CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATIONS – Over the past two years the children have really enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree that lives on the main corridor from the hall that leads to the Year 2 classes. We will buy a tree in the next week and look forward to the children sending in their decorations.
WORK ON LINE – Teachers in the Nursery, Reception and Year 6 will continue to put work on line for the children over the next week. Please check your child’s class page for the daily activities.
