Happy Monday Year 5!
We hope you all had a very restful and safe weekend. We can see that some of you have been able to access the class blog on Purple Mash and the online resources. Keep up the great learning!
Here are some activities for you to complete at home today.
Group 1: rain, pain, paint, wait, again, explain, afraid, chain, nail, sail, pail
Group 2 and 3: politician, position, imitation, accommodation, suggestion, discussion, confession, profession, musician, electrician, optician
Use this sheet to write each of your spelling words in a sentence.
Can you work out which purse you would rather have and why?
You are going to continue to learn about decimals, fractions and percentages this week. White Rose Maths has put together a great home learning pack on this which can be accessed through this link:
We would like you to complete lesson 1 step 6 today – rounding decimals. Watch the clip about this learning then answer the questions in the activity section.
The answers are also available so you can check your work once you have completed it – no peeking before you have completed the questions!
We have set you a book to read on Purple Mash as a 2Do. We are going to read a chapter each week and complete some learning about it each day.
Our book this week is called ‘How to catch a beast’ and today, we would like you to read chapter 1 and complete the multiple choice quiz afterwards.
Remember to look at the underlined words as you read the text. These are words you may be unfamiliar with and if you hover over the word, it will tell you its meaning.
Watch this short movie called ‘Taking Flight’.
Create a story board of the movie, picking out the main points. Make sure you add a short sentence about each image.
Can you include speech bubbles in your storyboard?
Complete the 2Do – What is your ambition when you are older?
Can you find all of the colours in the wordsearch? Can you write the names of the colours in English too?
Make sure you take regular work breaks! This website has a short workout you can be competing in your breaks from your learning!
https://pehubportal.co.uk/session-1/ or visit The body Coach – P.E. with Joe at 9 a.m.
Weather permitting, or inside using a lamp, can you create a picture using shadows? The more creative, the better! We look forward to seeing your creations!
Keep in touch – remember any work you have completed can be emailed to us to be marked. This can be typed work or a photo.
